Immortal God,
Invisible God
Immortal God, How great thou art
We want to thank the Almighty God for everything we learned yesterday. We will continue with our text.
Text: 2 Kings 13:14
Yesterday we shared how we spent 3 years studying Elijah and switched to how we studied Elisha, his greatest son.
Apart from the fact that Elijah taught me when to fight and to run but there are very crucial thing about Elijah
1. Elijah was a YES man, whatever God says to him, He says YES Lord. I have learned if I can just say yes Lord, I will prosper mightily. I discovered when I tried to argue, I paid for it. Elijah was a yes man.
2. I also discovered that he practically spent quality time with God. 1 Kings 17:1, he knew how to fellowship with God. I learned from him that the time you spend alone with God is not a wasted time because he prepares you for the time ahead.
We were discussing Elisha yesterday and discovered who Elisha was. Elisha was a healthy man in that text we read. He was healthy because he was highly anointed. 2 Kings 4:38-41. There was so much anointing in Elisha, 2 Kings 6:1-7. He was so anointed that no sickness could stay on his body. Elisha was sick, in the scriptures you will discover when you go through it that none apostles were sick, Mathew 8:14-15, meaning that you don't have to be ever sick again but if you have got sick, reach out for his stripes. 1 Peter 2:24, if you reach to his stripes and you are not healed and that means there is a fault in you and you need to confess it and be healed. James 5:16, you don't have to be sick to die, 2 Peter 1:13-14, put on the tabernacle of flesh.
Elisha fell sick and died.
Death
Hebrews 9:27, if the Lord delays His coming, you and I will die one day. Death is no respecter of anointing, 1 Samuel 25:1, 1 Kings 16:1-13. Samuel the king remover died, 1 Kings 15:22-29, Ecclesiastes 8:8, 1 Corinthians 15:26, Death is the last enemy to be destroyed. Death doesn't respect anointing. Death is not a function of age, death can kill anybody, Deuteronomy 34:7, Joshua 24:29, Genesis 5:27, Psalm 91:14-16. That you are not going to die, if the Lord carries, you are just deceiving yourself.
John 11:39-45
Why talking about death? It is to say how much time have I left. Death is not a function of age. Job 14:1, John 9:4. How much time have I left? Settle the fact that you are going to die but you don't know yet. This is to enable you to discuss with yourself the issue of finishing. Take John the Baptist for example, John 1:29-36, John completed his assignment. Mathew 14:1-13
Not just finishing but finishing well. 2 Timothy 4:6-8. If you don't finish well that's terrible no matter how old you are. Deuteronomy 34:1-8. Moses laboured for forty years but never got to the promised land.
What about Joshua? Joshua lived to be 110years. Joshua 13:1.
The Roles God will want every one of us to play.
Finishing well has nothing to do with titles. Ephesians 4:11-13. Each one has his own roles. Fingers have it's own assignment because they are not created equal.
2 kings 5:1-19
Elisha has its own part, Gehazi has his own part.
John 6:5-13, the lad has his own part he played to feed the multitudes.
Success is doing what God assigns to you very well. Mathew 25:14-30. God knows how much you are capable of doing. He is not going to ask for more than double for you. He will give you the reward due to you.
Heaven
Isaiah 66:1. If God says that heaven is my throne, you should know that heaven is beautiful.
Daniel 2:20-22
This wise God decides a place for Himself where He will seat and out His throne. Hebrew 11:8-10. God is the architect and the builder of heaven. A rich man lavished his riches on his building. Imagine how the residence of the man who calls Himself the All sufficient could be, Genesis 17:1. The one who said silver is mine and gold is mine built a throne for Himself.
Revelation 21:25, Heaven is the land of the endless days. Celebrations never end in heaven. There is no night there.
Revelation 22;5, There is no sun in heaven, God is the one supplying the light. The temperature there is always constant. Never too hot and never too cold.
What makes Heaven so beautiful?
Ecclesiastes 7:1, 2 Corinthians 5:8, Philippians 1:21-23, 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 2 Corinthians 5:10, 1 John 3:2, 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (there will be surprises that day, God has prepared for everyone who overcomes)
What are we to do t be ready for Heaven?
Mathew 25:1-13 (10 virgins, 5 got in and 5 locked out)
- You must be extra ready
- Revelation 22:14-15, Stop lying in any form. Exaggeration is a lie, false reports are lies, Acts 5:1-11. The report you maneuver could shut the door of heaven against you, the report you gave concerning a fellow brother to what the brother didn't do it is a lie.
- Restitute your ways, make peace with all men, Hebrews 12:14
- Revelation 3:11, Hold fast to what you have, let no man take your crown
- Revelation 2:10, Be faithful unto death
- 2 Peter 3:14, Be diligent to be found in Him in peace without spots and blameless.
- Ephesians 5:25-27, the Lord is coming for a church, without spots or wrinkle or blemish.
We don't know when our own home call will be. The difference between a man who is sentenced to death and us is that the one who is sentenced to death knows that he is going to die but for us, we don't know when death will come calling. Only God knows how many of us will be around by tomorrow morning.
Spend quality time settling your situation with God. Cry to Him about issues you need to restitute about because anytime death may come. For those who are married, don't go to bed without settling your misunderstanding with your spouse because there is no guarantee that either of you will be alive before tomorrow.
