FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE
2 Corinthians 5:17

It only takes thorough search through the Bible to find the truth at all times. This is because the Bible is a mysterious book, so anyone that will understand it but go through daily study and meditation. Also,we need the mind of God to understand the word of God.

The sub-topic for today’s Rhema Time is divided into two, namely “DEATH and LIFE” so we are going to be picking it one after the other to know what God has for us.

DEATH
The first thing we must understand is that Death was never part of God’s plan for our lives. It was never God’s agenda for mankind. When God made Adam and placed him in charge of all that He created, Death wasn’t in the Manual God gave to him - I Corinthians 15:26

Hence, we need to understand the nature of man before we can know what Death means to man.

1. Man was not created as natural being, he was created as a Spiritual being - John 3:7, 1 Thess 5:23

2. Man was created as a tripartite being, having the Spirit, Soul dwelling in the Body (Physical Structure)

3. Whatever will happen to a man will start from the Spirit. It is the Spirit of a man that serves as the Life of that man so man has his generating strength from him Spirit.

4. The Soul hereby receives instruction from the Spirit and then acts as the Intellect and will of man. The soul of a man can also be likened to the mind of a man. The soul operates in such a way that when a man has experienced the New Birth, his Spirit which is already in tune with God passess the direction of God to his soul which therefore guides his consciousness.

5. The Body finally receives command from the soul. Even if the body desires some negative reactions, the soul cautions it and places it under absolute subjection.

6. When the soul of a man is down, his body is automatically weakened.

7. At physical death, the Spirit goes back to God and the Soul awaits judgement - Luke 16:19-24

Now, the real idea of “Death to Life” is the occurrence that takes place when a man dies physically. We are to know that there is another Life after that physical Death has occurred. It is the Soul of a man that accounts for the kind of life a man lives and if a man lived an ungodly life, it is the soul that stands to bear the burden.

Now, for the purpose of this teaching, Death can occur in 3 different dimensions and they are as follows:

  • Spiritual Death - This is an act of being separated from God like that of Adam when he sinned. This is a kind of death that takes place when a man loses the consciousness of God.
  • Physical Death - This is the physical separation from the body, that is the flesh.
  • Eternal Death - This is the death when the soul of a man is brought to damnation. It can also be called the second death.

For today, we will be dwelling more on:

SPIRITUAL DEATH
Genesis 3:9-10
Spiritual Death means leaving God out of the equation of your life. Hence, we can take note of FOUR THINGS ABOUT ADAM’S SEPARATION
  1. Adam heard God’s voice and he ran - This denotes the first step to man’s fall. The presence of God is no longer valued.
  2. Adam was afraid of God’s Presence - Secondly, he lost the confidence he has to abide in God’s presence because of sin nature.
  3. Adam realized he was naked - Now, he began to feel naked before God; his conscience begins to make him feel uncomfortable. 
  4. Adam hid himself - He completely ran from God
The moment a Christian backslides, these are the four things that usually take place. 
 
8 THINGS MAN LOSES WHEN SIN TAKES PLACE
  1. The Presence of God
  2. The Fellowship With God
  3. The Peace of Mind
  4. The Relationship With God
  5. The Voice of God
  6. The Consciousness of God
  7. The Intimacy with God
  8. The Legal Ground
When man lost his Legal ground, he automatically became the Spiritual son of the Devil - John 8:44. So we saw that the only way to get rid of this mess man found himself was to pay a sacrifice, this was why God had to give His only son to pay the price for the New Birth of man - John 3:16.
At the appearance of Jesus, every sin man had ever committed was driven away. So whoever hears the good news of Jesus and accept his Lordship is saved and no longer any form of damnation - John 5:24, Revelation 2:7

And we must know that the New Birth doesn’t happen gradually, it happens at once. And we must know that we were saved by Grace through faith in Christ Jesus - Ephesians 2:8-9.

THE NEW BIRTH 3

From the previous weeks on the topic “NEW BIRTH” , we have learnt that there is a new birth in Christ Jesus to all those who will surrender their will to him. Precisely last week, we learnt about “Life and Death” and we were able to establish the fact that there is a Life after we die of physical death. Using the story of Lazarus and the Rich man as a case study, we learnt that the rich man consistently fed his flesh and left the spirit stranded. And Lazarus on the other hand, though physically poor but his spirit was rich. And when the judgement day came, Lazarus entered into Abraham' Bosom while the rich man was left to suffer in pain. Lazarus enjoyed eternal life after death while the rich man had eternal death, which is the second death. Hence, we must ensure our spirit-man is greatly nourished above the flesh because man is a spirit being.
